Worship Services

Please note:  During the summer of 2008 (June 29 through August 31), the Great Valley family will come together in a blended service (combining contemporary and traditional formats).  This service begins at 10 AM each Sunday, with Sunday School preceding the service at 9 AM.
Please join us!

8:30 a.m. Contemporary Worship – Led by our contemporary worship team, this service emphasizes singing that praises God via the use of musical instruments and contemporary songs.  The style is more informal and participative, with attendees contributing to worship in some way, whether through song, the sharing of scripture, sharing of praise or prayer needs, personal testimony, prayer and/or meditation.  Essentially the same sermon is given as in the 11 a.m. traditional service.  A time of greeting is usually provided during the service, along with coffee after the service just outside the side door of the sanctuary.  Child care is provided for children 1 to 4 yrs. old.

11:00 a.m. Traditional Worship
– This service, led by our Pastor, Director of Equipping Ministries and Youth, and Choir Director is more formal and traditional in nature.  It follows the outline in the Sunday bulletin, typically including a responsive call to worship, hymn singing, pastoral prayer, chancel choir anthem, scripture reading (Old and New Testaments) and sermon.  Coffee immediately follows the service in the Chapel, and is an excellent way to greet one another.  Child care is provided for children 3 months through Kindergarten in the Sunday School rooms.  In addition, Junior Church is provided for Grades 1 to 5.  Following the reading of scripture, children are released to the Chapel for Junior Church (see notation in the bulletin).

Sunday Evening – Periodically we have Sunday evening services starting at 6:00 p.m.  Check the Sunday bulletin for the current or upcoming schedule.  Possible activities include a lecture series, missionary presentations, or other special events.
