About the Event
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet Eleanor Isaacson and hear her remarkable story of survival in Nazi Germany during World War II. Born in the United States but abandoned as a toddler in Germany she survived bombings, starvation, Russian occupation and a stint as a child smuggler all before reaching her teens. Eleanor escaped to the U.S. just before the Iron Curtain crashed shut and soon faced new and painful obstacles. Deafness and solitude became the catalyst that led her to “glorious” womanhood, the love of her life and the beauty of dance. She would also discover that the “invisible Friend” whose presence had kept her sane was also her heavenly Father, loving God, Prince of Peace.
Eleanor, whose book Dancing from Darkness, received the 2018 Memoir of the Year Award from the American Writers and Speakers Association, will be our presenter at First Thursday on June 2. First Thursday includes a greeting time at 11:30am, devotions at 11:45, lunch and noon (all held in the Chapel) and Eleanor’s presentation in the Sanctuary at 1pm. Come to as much of this free event as you like, but please sign up if you are planning to attend the luncheon.
