First Thursday: Ethnomusicology with Rachel Schuck

Do you hear the word "ethnomusicology" and think, 'huh?' Try to sound that word out 3 times fast! Essentially, this word means "the study of people through music" - or, "the study of people doing music" (ethno- comes from the Greek root "ethnos" (culture/race), and -musicology is the study of music).

You're invited to the June edition of First Thursday, where Rachel Schuck will share a bit about the field of ethnomusicology, her work with South Indian music teachers, and some brief music selections. Much of Rachel's work sits in the intersection of Christian and non-Christian sacred spaces, so we'll have some great discussions about what it looks like to engage with music in various contexts "for Christ."
