First Thursday: Veterans Day Celebration
Time & Location
About the Event
You’re invited to a Veterans’ Day celebration at First Thursday featuring WWII veteran Robert (Bob) L. Thompson. Drafted soon after his high school graduation in 1944, Bob trained in Alabama and Mississippi before joining the Second Infantry Division in Normandy in mid-July. By December 1944, his division was in the Ardennes at the Battle of the Bulge, and on December 16, 1944 Bob was taken prisoner as the Germans made their last-ditch offensive, later to be released on VE Day.
Please join us as we celebrate Veterans' Day early with this former POW. If you or a relative served in WWII, please bring a picture, preferably framed, with identifying information, their branch and area of service, your relationship, and other information in large, legible print. Patriotic or military dress is optional!
First Thursday meets in the Chapel from 11:30 AM - 2 PM, April, May, June and October, November, December. The lunch is free, but reservations are strongly encouraged. Invite a friend and sign up here!
