Good Friday Prayer Vigil 2022

You are invited to join other children of God in a special time of prayer. It is a time when we can work together passing the baton from one person/group to another so that our Good Father can hear the cries of his children at Great Valley.

During the last two years we invited you to join us in a time of prayer and fasting on Good Friday. In those two years the pandemic shaped more of our outlook than it does now. Yet in those days we did not watch a nation being ravaged by war as we do now. I am often struck by the repeated words of God spoken through the prophet Amos to Israel (Amos 4:6-11). God recounted many things that he brought upon them including famine, drought, and pestilence. Five times in that passage we read “yet you did not return to me, declares the LORD.” Rightly understood, everything we face in this life is designed to draw us to our Lord, even the unique and everchanging events these past few years. So, would you join us in asking that God use the events of this past years to shape us for His kingdom purposes in this coming year?

The sign up: We have broken this time period up in to 15-minute time slots. We ask that you consider signing up to pray during one or more of those slots. Someone will commit to pray during any slots not taken as a way to ensure that we offer up 6 continuous hours of prayer. Click the "Register Now" button to sign up. We will strive to update the list below with your signups each morning. We encourage you to connect with others signed up at the same time as you to pray together, either at the church, over the phone or via web conference.

If you sign up before noon on Thursday, April 14th we can send to you a reminder of your time and a list of suggested prayer items. You may also desire to use the Guide to Prayer and Fasting  provided last year by our denomination at this link.
